The Perfect Storm
Narcissistic Abuse in Intimate Partner Relationships
For the survivor, collateral damage to their lives can be broad and deep. Every divorce has wide-ranging implications for both separating partners, but the added complication of one partner being a high-spectrum narcissist compounds that damage.
In addition to wanting to leave, the vindictive narcissist is also driven to inflict as much damage as possible on their former partner. Often, the survivor must navigate the Perfect Storm where they will sustain as much grief and loss as any tsunami could inflict.
DISCLAIMER: Narcissists are not all male. Using male pronouns to reference the narcissist and female pronouns to reference the victim-survivor is not an indication of the clinical data on gender in narcissism, but rather an editorial choice.
